Overview
Czech composer Dvořák infused his famous Symphony No. 8 with the melodies and rhythms of his people, building a mighty work from humble folk tunes. Popular conductor Anna Skryleva returns to Fort Worth for this performance, which also features the Violin Concerto by Erich Korngold, a composer famous for his film music to swashbucklers like Robin Hood and The Seahawk. The program opens with another Czech favorite, Bedrich Smetana’s mighty “Moldau,” an evocative tone poem about a river that passes through the countryside.
