Our history of partnership with Fort Worth's cultural institutions is a source of great pride for the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. Growth is the product of collaboration, creativity, and commitment to the community. The Cliburn, Fort Worth Opera, and Texas Ballet Theater have been and will continue to be extraordinary partners as we strive to enrich the cultural fabric of the city of Fort Worth.

The Cliburn

Fort Worth hosts the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, first held in 1962 in honor of Mr. Cliburn. This competition, called "the most prestigious in the world," is held at Bass Performance Hall every four years. The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra regularly performs at the event. The reputation of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition has grown and now rivals Moscow's prestigious International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition – the very event that propelled Cliburn into the spotlight 50 years ago.

Fort Worth Opera
Each year the Fort Worth Opera Festival employs the help of over 500 people to bring the often mysterious operatic stage to life. This includes collaborators such as the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, the Texas Boys Choir, and the Texas Ballet Theater. Established in 1946 as the Fort Worth Civic Opera Association, the company debuted with Giuseppe Verdi's La traviata and has been impassioning opera lovers ever since.
