Overview

The ballet The Three-Cornered Hat chronicles a magistrate’s attempt to seduce a miller’s faithful wife with a lightly spiced score of colorful orchestral dances drawn from Andalusian folk music by Spanish composer Manuel de Falla. For this special performance, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra has partnered with the Kimbell Art Museum to project exquisite Spanish masterpieces during the concert, which also features Ravel’s Rapsodie espagnole and the incomparable mezzo Kelley O’Connor singing American composer Peter Lieberson’s Neruda Songs, drawn from the poetry of Pablo Neruda.
