Overview

The great composer Johannes Brahms’ last public appearance was for a concert of his fourth and final symphony. Listeners leapt to their feet to give a standing ovation after every movement of this rich, dense, sensitive culmination of Brahms’ career. To open its season, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra will perform Jean Sibelius’ patriotic Finlandia, a work protesting Russian censorship with a glorious hymn, before continuing with another Nordic masterpiece, Edvard Grieg’s famous Piano Concerto.
