Our history of partnership with Fort Worth's cultural institutions is a source of great pride for the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. Growth is the product of collaboration, creativity, and commitment to the community. The Cliburn, Fort Worth Opera, and Texas Ballet Theater have been and will continue to be extraordinary partners as we strive to enrich the cultural fabric of the city of Fort Worth.

The Cliburn

Fort Worth hosts the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, first held in 1962 in honor of Mr. Cliburn. This competition, called "the most prestigious in the world," is held at Bass Performance Hall every four years. The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra regularly performs at the event. The reputation of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition has grown and now rivals Moscow's prestigious International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition – the very event that propelled Cliburn into the spotlight 50 years ago.

Fort Worth Opera

Founded in 1946, Fort Worth Opera is celebrating its 75th anniversary season. After fourteen years of producing a nationally recognized Festival in the springtime, the organization returned to a year-round format in the fall of 2021. FWO has become one of the leading American companies dedicated to nurturing and performing new opera, while producing traditional repertoire with rising stars. The company’s acclaimed Children’s Opera Theatre program serves around 60,000 students across North Texas each season with live, interactive performances. Fort Worth Opera is committed to celebrating all North Texans, and through our ongoing Noches de Óperaprogram and concerts like A Night of Black Excellence, the company offers community-driven events and powerful operas that represent the diverse cultures of all of the Americas.
