Samuel Watson

Samuel Watson is the recently appointed section bassoonist/contrabassoonist of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. As an orchestral musician Samuel has worked with such conductors as Alain Trudel, JoAnn Falletta, Carlos Kalmar, Carlos Miguel Prieto, and Marin Alsop.

Samuel, a native Texan, attended high school at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in Jacksonville, Florida, where he studied bassoon under Stephanie Magnus. He has performed concertos with the Jacksonville Symphony and the First Coast Wind Symphony and has participated in esteemed festivals such as the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Institute, Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra of the USA, and the National Orchestra Institute.

Prior to joining the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Samuel held a position with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra in Ohio and studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music as a student of Barrick Stees and Jonathan Sherwin.
