Recognized for her clear tone quality and musical sensitivity on both flute and piccolo, Mara Goree is among her generation’s most passionate orchestral musicians. Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Mara began playing flute at the age of 10. She received her bachelor’s degree in flute performance from Indiana University in 2023, where she studied under Thomas Robertello, and her master’s from Northwestern University in 2025, where she studied under John Thorne. At Northwestern, Mara was the recipient of the prestigious Walfrid Kujala flute scholarship.

Previously, Mara held the position of Second Flute with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, where she performed for two seasons. She has also performed with Ballet Indiana and San Antonio Philharmonic, and has attended the summer festivals Chicago Summer Opera and National Repertory Orchestra. In the summer of 2026, she became a core performer at the Wyoming International Chamber Music Festival.

Mara joined the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra as Third Flute/Piccolo in their 2026-2027 season.
