Joni Baczewski joined the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra in 1975 just before entering her freshman year at the University of North Texas. She has been performing with the Orchestra full time since 1987. She also has performed with the Forth Worth Opera and Dallas Opera.
She taught viola at Texas Christian University for nine years and was the viola instructor and chamber music coach at the University of Texas at Arlington for five years. Her students range in age from toddlers to senior citizens.
Joni holds a bachelor's degree in viola performance and music education and a master's degree in viola performance, both from the University of North Texas.
In addition to performing, she specializes in hand-made pens and pencils, under the company name Unique Woodwriters by Joni. She and her husband, Philip, have one son, Nicholas.
