Jeff Hall was born and raised in Denton, where he began playing viola at age nine before switching to bass. He joined the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra in 1983. In addition, he has performed with orchestras in Albuquerque, Breckenridge, Oklahoma City, Charleston and Dallas.

In his free time, he enjoys playing chess, reading, gardening, and playing and coaching soccer. He also loves backpacking, camping and vegetarian cooking. His wife, Donna, is a violist who also occasionally performs with the FWSO.
