A native of Japan, Izumi Lund came to the United States in 1997 to complete an artist diploma in violin at the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati. She earned her bachelor's degree in music performance at the Tokyo University of Fine Arts and has performed with the NHK Symphony, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and Ensemble Kanazawa.
She began playing the violin at age five and won the Toyama regional youth competition at age 11. She was concertmaster of her youth orchestra in Toyama, college orchestra and the CCM Philharmonia. Before joining the FWSO she was assistant concertmaster in the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra.
Izumi and her husband Marcel, who is also a violinist, enjoy cooking and baking desserts together.
