Edward Jones was appointed Principal Tuba with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra in 2001. Previously he was tubist with the Richardson Symphony and East Texas Symphony Orchestras and the Dallas Wind Symphony. An active chamber musician, he performs with the FWSO Brass Quintet. As a soloist, he has given numerous recitals throughout Texas. He is also on the faculty at the University of Texas at Arlington where he teaches Tuba and Euphonium.
He holds degrees from Fort Hays State University and East Texas A&M University and has done additional graduate study in applied tuba at the University of North Texas. His principal teachers are Lyle Dilley of Hays, Kansas and Donald Little, Professor of Tuba and the University of North Texas and retired principal tuba with the Fort Worth Symphony.
Ed makes his home in Arlington with his wife, Carol, a retired elementary music teacher. His daughter Allison a CPA and Finance Controller at Commit, a non-profit based in Dallas. His son Andrew is also a tubist who makes his home in Cincinnati and is the professor of tuba at the University of Dayton. Ed enjoys fly fishing, is an aviation enthusiast and a barbeque aficionado.
