Alton Adkins is the associate principal horn of the FWSO. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Texas Tech University, where he studied with Anthony Brittin, and a master’s from Southern Methodist University, where he studied with Gregory Hustis. Alton has appeared as a soloist with the FWSO, Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, Texas Tech University Symphony Orchestra, and National Orchestra of Peru. He is active as a chamber musician and area studio musician. Alton has also performed with the orchestras of Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. He is a recipient of the 2007 American Airlines Distinguished Musician Award. He and his wife, Amy, stay busy with their two sons, Jacob and Benjamin.
