Achieving Maestro Spano's Artistic Vision

As part of the FWSO’s new artistic strategy, under the leadership of Maestro Spano, the FWSO has launched a new chamber music series at the Kimbell Art Museum. Each program will include a major contemporary work or featured composer, as well as more familiar chamber music favorites. The program will launch in the 2021-2022 season with two different programs, in anticipation of three different programs in each subsequent year.

Featured works will include Steve Reich’s minimalist masterpiece Different Trains, Stravinsky’s timeless L’Histoire du Soldat for narrator and small ensemble, and works by Spano, Messiaen, and Lutoslawski. These presentations allow the FWSO to feature seminal contemporary works and influential composers in a smaller, more intimate setting than Bass Hall.
