Composed for Good Friday Vespers in Leipzig in 1724, St. John Passion is one of Bach’s most extravagant and dramatic masterworks. Based on the poetic Gospel of John, this oratorio depicts the trial and execution of Jesus, drawing from the Gospel of John interspersed with arias and hymns. Miguel Harth-Bedoya will lead the orchestra, chorus, and soloists in this sacred work on Easter weekend. Bach Chorus, Maritza Caceres, director.
