Mahler’s “Tragic” Symphony

May 14–16, 2021

Bass Performance Hall

This concert will last approximately 90 minutes and will be performed without intermission.

In her memoirs, Alma Mahler wrote of Mahler’s sixth symphony that “No other work flowed so directly from his heart as this one. We both cried at the time; we felt so deeply what this music meant, what it forebodingly told us.” Miguel Harth-Bedoya returns to conduct this monumental work that is both personal and prophetic. You’ll be spellbound from the opening march to the culminating “blows of fate.”
