Development Associate

The Development Associate is an entry level position in which the employee will learn the fundamentals of development operations and event planning. This position will support the planning and execution of special events including galas, pre- and post-concert receptions, and special luncheons or dinners, as well as sponsor-based and private residential events. While the role has a strong event emphasis, this individual will gain experience in facilitating donor benefits, departmental communications, and board relations. The position reports to the Senior Director of Annual Fund and Board Liaison and partners closely with the Development team to plan and implement department initiatives.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support Senior Director of Annual Fund and Board Liaison in planning and implementing FWSO’s development events including:
    • Assist with and/or manage major fundraising events including Opening Night and annual Gala; Artist “Salon Series” events for Patrons of the Symphony; museum events; Brooks Morris Legacy Giving Society events (annual lunch and recruitment event); Concerts in the Garden events; open rehearsals; and other events as assigned
    • Concert duty
    • Invitation support including printing/mailing invitations, managing RSVPs and logging data into Tessitura
    • Event details including managing outside vendors, including venue, catering, parking, floral and decorations
    • Create and send Wordfly e-blasts (marketing emails, event reminders, and invitations)
  • Support the development team across various areas including:
    • Managing Development Department calendar
    • Assist with print collateral for a variety of projects (printing/assembling name tags, printing/mailing letters, etc.)
    • Board meeting support as requested
  • Other duties as requested

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Team player
  • Comfortable interacting with donors at all giving levels
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail

 

Education and Experience:

  • Undergraduate Degree
  • Knowledge of Tessitura and Adobe CC applications a plus
  • Knowledge of Wordfly a plus
  • Knowledge of symphonic repertoire and performing arts a plus
